Local journalism helps residents understand what is happening in their neighborhoods, schools and local government. It connects communities with reliable information and supports informed civic participation.
As part of our work to connect local organizations with resources that can strengthen the Greater Lodi area, Lodi Community Foundation is sharing a new funding opportunity for California news organizations.
The California Civic Media Program is now accepting applications from eligible news organizations producing original, fact-based reporting on state and local issues. The program will invest $20 million in California newsrooms, with an emphasis on local, ethnic and community media serving underserved communities.
Eligible organizations must be based in California, have operated for at least three years and publish original coverage of matters of public interest. Applicants must also maintain publicly available ethics, corrections and ownership-disclosure policies.
