THE DARRELL DRUMMOND LEGACY FUND

Darrell was the creator and owner of Drummond & Associates, a financial planning company that he established in 1989. Working many years with his clients to create financial security and freedom was a passion. After 28 years he retired and sold his business to a friend and co-worker, an easy decision for someone that was admired for the way he invested in people and their success.

It has often been said that Darrell was “kind and compassionate”, a “prize of a gentleman”, that he was “one of the good guys,” Darrell was a man that valued relationships and people. He learned early on that human connection was important in life and he made it a habit to know people and find things about them that were inspiring and valuable.

What is also known is that while Darrell naturally sought to be inspired by people around him — it was he that was inspiring to others. Darrell’s kindness, giving spirit, and persuasiveness inspired people around him to pursue incredible ideas.

John Ledbetter, chairperson of the Lodi Community Foundation, and one of Darrell’s closest friends, shares that the Lodi Community Foundation itself was Darrell’s idea. Something he talked about with others and, in true inspiring form, persuaded several individuals to make the idea come true. In 2005 the Lodi Community Foundation was founded. The foundation fulfilled Darrell’s mission to have philanthropists and nonprofits unite in a way that they would care for one another, and in turn, take care of the community.

Once the Lodi Community Foundation was successfully operating, Darrell stepped and encouraged others to step forward to lead the organization to greater success; another example of his admirable quality of investing in others and encouraging their success.
