LODI COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANT PROGRAM
General Grant Program Overview and Information
The LODI COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is pleased to offer eligible 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations serving Lodi area residents to apply for funding for its grant program when the cycle opens. The Board of Directors of the Lodi Community Foundation (LCF) recognizes that Lodi and its surrounding areas are a community with diverse and ever-changing needs, and one in which philanthropy can make an impact through strategic grantmaking. To further LCF’s mission to build a stronger community through leveraging its own resources for strategically focused grantmaking, the LCF Board allocates funding from its Field of Interest Fund to support special projects, programs and/or initiatives serving residents in our community.
FUNDING FOR 2024
The LCF Board has committed a total of $20,000 for this grants program in 2024. The maximum grant amount an applicant could request under this program is $5,000, although applicants may
request less than the maximum amount.
TIMEFRAME FOR USING GRANT MONIES
The timeframe to expend grant monies is December 1, 2024 – November 30, 2025.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
Those organizations receiving grant awards will be required to provide a brief twelve-month closeout report on the outcome of the grant, including a report of how funds were spent. Pictures related to the use of grant funds will also be requested as part of reporting, where applicable.
ELIGIBLE EXPENSES

- All clearly stated, and reasonable expenses necessary to meet the outcomes of the proposed project/program will be considered
- Up-to 15% of the grant may be used for administrative fees
INELIGIBLE EXPENSES

- Fundraising events and/or fundraising activities
- General operating support
- Debt obligations
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
LCF will consider requests for funding from the following organizations:

- Nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, classified as a public charity, not as a “private foundation” under section
509(a), and are designated a 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) organization; and - Serving Lodi area residents.
- Nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, classified as a public charity, not as a “private foundation” under section
At this time, requests for funding will not be accepted from local government entities/agencies, or local public education agencies such as K-12 public school districts, community colleges, andpublic universities.
SELECTION CRITERIA
LCF will accept applications from eligible organizations that propose projects or activities that support community-based initiatives in the Lodi area. The LCF Board anticipates receiving more requests than there is funding available. Due to limited funding, the review committee will take into consideration the following in its decision-making process:

- PROJECT DESCRIPTION – Request, impact, and use of funds is clearly stated and understood
- BUDGET – Budget is reasonable, and clearly itemized and stated with a realistic timeline for expending funds
- COST EFFECTIVE – Use of grants funds is a good financial investment with a high benefit for the cost
- SERVICE AREA – Serving residents of Lodi and/or its immediate surrounding areas
- FEASABILITY – Programs/projects with the highest likelihood of success
- SUSTAINABILITY – Having a lasting and measurable impact
- COMPLETED – All questions in the application are answered and complete
- OTHER – other considerations above and beyond those listed will also be given weight
SUBMISSION REVIEW TIMELINE
Below are the approximate dates for submission, review, and awarding of grant funds. The Foundation will contact applicants by email regarding the outcome of the review committee’s
decision.- 2024 Grant Proposal Submission Due Date – on or before Friday, October 11, 2024, 5:00pm (Pacific Standard Time).
- Grant Proposal Review (Approximate) – Applicants can expect to be notified of the outcome of their requests by November 30, 2024.
- Date Funds Available (Approximate) – Grant funding will be made available by December 31, 2024.
